NFTN and CSIR to showcase industry support services at the AFSA International Aluminium Conference and Exhibition

The Aluminium Federation of South Africa (AFSA) will host the highly anticipated AFSA International Aluminium Conference and Exhibition next week, on 26 and 27 October 2022 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The NFTN and the CSIR Advanced Castings Technology research group will be participating in the exhibition and conference programme.

According to AFSA, the conference is a stepping-stone towards the vision of “Doubling Local Aluminium Demand by 2030”. AFSA’s overall strategic plan is to position the South African Aluminium industry as a global supplier of primary and secondary Aluminium metal, parts, and finished products.

NFTN and CSIR will exhibit at stand numbers AO2 and A03 to showcase the various industry support services it addresses to allow the sector to thrive.

Furthermore, delegates can look forward to presentation sessions from NFTN Senior Project Manager Isidore Kilongozi as he delves into the productivity outlook in the aluminium sand-casting foundry: lean manufacturing.

CSIR Principal Researcher Sylvester Bolokang will present on the establishment of the Foundry Technology Centre (FTC) – which aims to provide foundries access to research and development, training, small-scale manufacturing, and incubation of new foundries. The new FTC, which will launch fully in early 2023, is primarily funded by the dtic through a partnership with the NFTN.

The AFSA conference is anticipated to attract over 200 local and international participants, ensure that you do not miss out and register to secure your attendance at:
